This website is a pure and unashamed promotion of Travis
Yates, his life, his travel adventures and most of all his brief
comedy career.
Travis was brought up on a farm just outside Werrimull, a
small town of about 50 people in North West Victoria Australia.
Werrimull is most famous for it's grain growing and sheep
farming.
The locals spend tireless hours working the land often in hot
dry conditions with temperatures regularly reaching 40C.
Travis spent most of his time on the farm in front of the TV or
playing his Commodore 64.
At school he was a bit of a nerd, not because he loved to
study, he didn't, just because he wasn't very cool.
He did well at Maths though and went to University to become a
qualified Statistician. It was around this time he
discovered alcohol and became slightly more cool.
Having completed his Honours year in his Bachelor of Applied
Science (Mathematics) Travis decided to find a job. He
applied for a job at the Australian Bureau of Statistics in
Canberra and was unfortunate enough to be accepted. After
5 soul sapping years he transferred to Statistics New Zealand.
It was here he discovered that he really didn't like statistics
but loved to travel.
Travis then spent a few months backpacking around SE Asia
before landing at a Marketing agency in London UK. His job
in London, while still involving statistics, was a bit more
social and showed him a more hip and happening work environment.
It was here he discovered that he didn't like working in an
office at all.
When he wasn't working Travis travelled Europe. But
also found the time to become a stand up comedian. It all
started at the 'King Gong show at the Comedy Store in London.
Having spent a month coming up with a few lines Travis lasted 4
minutes of the required 5 minutes needed to beat the gong.
This was enough to give him a taste for comedy and he started
testing his skills in various venues in and around London.
However his stand up was eating into his work time and rather
than doing the obvious he gave up stand up for the time being.
Travis also found time to start an internet business which has
proven to be profitable. No longer having to work for a
living Travis is now looking to revitalise his comedy career.
This website is the start of it.

Stand Up Comedy |
In 2003 and 2004 Travis performed
his stand up in several locations in and around London.
Near the end of his time as a stand up comedian Travis
had around 20 mins of material. Here's 5min of
some of his best stuff.

Sketch Comedy |
In 2001 Travis was living in New
Zealand. During this time his good friend Andrew Middleweek came over for a few weeks and they travelled
the North Island. During this time they gave their
random thoughts on New Zealand the people and the
culture. They also found time to put together some
skits. |

In 1992 Travis went to Melbourne
to study Maths. Here are some high jinks that
Travis got up to while staying in student accommodation.

Travel Videos |
Every where Travis goes he brings his
trusty video camera with him. Why? Maybe
it's so he doesn't have to experience what's around him.
Maybe he hopes he'll catch something on camera he can
sell for $1,000,000. Who knows. But some of
his antics are slightly amusing. |

Blogs |
Every time Travis goes on a trip he emails
everyone he can think of to brag about what a great time
he's having. He also tries to make it interesting
enough that they feel compelled to read it. What a
cruel bastard!

TV Appearances |
Travis is most famous for appearing on
Wheel of Fortune in Australia. Did he walk away
with the car, the cash and all the prizes? Or did
he pick up some picture frames and a parker pen set?

Charity Work |
Travis has built these two websites for charity. Travis got roped into the Environmental Research Event in the hope that he could learn a few more website development tricks along the way.
